Trust in Me!
Jeremiah
the prophet trusted in his people but little did he know that they were
secretly plotting to kill him.
Jeremiah is told of his dangerous environment.
So Jeremiah is disgusted in his people and places his trust in the Lord.
In the
Gospel we see the people who heard Jesus believing in him and yet they are told
to trust the Law and the lawgivers meaning the Pharisees the so-called
authorities.
Do the Pharisees believe?
One of them did, Nicodemus. He is
strongly convinced that Jesus is the One who will redeem Israel and stands up
for him with the authorities.
He would even show up for Jesus’ burial.
These
days we have trouble in believing in the law and the law-givers in all sectors
of the society.
“It is better to trust in God than human person” for God indeed
is trustworthy, loyal, and faithful for “God remains faithful even when we are
unfaithful”.
Trust is a tricky thing. We want to be
trusting, but we can’t always trust others. But we can always trust God.
And
when we follow God and put our trust in God, we will prosper.
Jeremiah did.
Like the people in the Gospel, we should trust in God, not in man.
We can take
refuge in God and come to him for protection.
We need to trust our gut, and
trust our heart, and trust our God.
