Weeping and
Crying!
Today in the
streets of Lahore, Pakistan you can feel the sense of fear and utter
helplessness experienced by Christians devastated by the recent bomb blast.
The
mothers, parents, children and friends are crying out to heaven to protect them
in the midst of their persecution and attack against minorities.
Their only
mistake is that they are Christians and are targeted by the Muslim radicals who
want to wipe out Christians.
In the psalm today we pray, “ You changed my
mourning into dancing” where the psalmist hopes and desires and express
trust
in the Lord who is all-powerful.
How often are we challenged to place our trust
in the Lord when there are no miracles to see but only pure suffering?
The
royal official completely trusted in the words of Jesus when he said, “Your son
will live” which indeed did happen miraculously.
The Christian churches around
India are targeted by the Hindu radicals who want to create an India only for
Hindus that has resulted in increased violence in the places of worship.
It is
easy to trust when your faith is not tested. The religious women in their
convents are not safe.
So the prayer voiced to heaven is deeper, desperate,
daring and not one of dancing and joy. We need to pray in solidarity with these
suffering people of God so that their faith may deepened in these bad times.
May the Lord continue to watch over the children whom God loves so much!
