Lent 2014: Thursday after Ash Wednesday: March 6, 2014
“Choose life, you and
your descendants will live” Det. 30:19
Lent calls us to
choose life with God for that is what will bring lasting peace to our souls. It
is easier said than done. We are constantly pulled in different directions all
the time due to pressures emerging from our own culture. A journey toward God
is a journey away from something else. The pursuit of happiness, success,
achievements, pleasures, prosperity, power and prestige is not always
consistent with the Gospel of way life that lead us to losing our soul along
the way. Choosing God and God’s ways will move us to turn our back to
compromise, complacency, competition, corruption and conceit. The journey to
God will challenge us to take a closer look at the present version of ourselves
so that we can journey to the-best-version-of-ourselves. That is taking an
honest look at whatever defects, weaknesses, attitudes, thoughts, actions that
lead us away from this one unique journey to this God of life. We cannot live a
fulfilled life by leaving God out the loop, experience tells us so. To turn our
life around is to be discovered by God or by “won over by God”. If we deny
ourselves, our own selfish pursuits and turn to God, we end up living life in
its best version. So what do you want, life away from God or life in God? the
choice makes ‘hell lot of difference’.
God Bless you always!
Yours Sincerely,
