I don’t think I often look for miracles and signs of God. I do look for reminders of God’s presence in my life. An Unknown author wrote: “The air, the mothering air, the hallows, nicest birds, these things remind me always of a God who holds us in herself as in a womb”. How are we reminded of the nurturing presence of God? God did not want to destroy his creation, his people, his city of Nineveh and he did send reminders to all so that they had an opportunity for turning things around (conversion). God then sees the sings of conversion in their repentance. God was pleased indeed. Lent is that opportune time when God sends us reminders of his love, to savor everyday of our life and to be lived for God, in God and with God. In order to perceive, read, and discern his reminders, his message, we need to stop whatever we are doing and gather in silence. It looks like God prefers to speak in silence without much fanfare. Lent is an invitation to holy silence, holy rosary, holy mass, holy hour and holy meditation. Let us not ignore the warning signs of God’s presence everywhere. Is silence discover what reminds of God’s presence and action in the world today and right now.
