Lent 2014: Friday after
Ash Wednesday: March 7, 2014
Fast that pleases the
Lord: Isaiah 58:6
On the third day of
lent we are invited to pay attention to the way we fast during this time of
grace. Some of us give up some pleasures like eating candy, ice cream,
chocolates, and desserts. We give up in order to lift up, look up rather than
give in to unnecessary wants and pleasures. We lift up our thoughts and our
lives to God who has seen our potential and possibilities or rather what we can
be. We are bigger than our sins or failures for our worth is determined by God.
So we look up to God for more inspiration to live our lives more pleasing to
God rather than what our popular culture tells us. So by fasting from undue
pleasures, undue attitudes, evil thoughts, evil deeds, we are in fact living up
to the call God has given us. Are you really in to the season of lent or gently
and slowly getting into it? Yes we have to give up something in order to give
in to God, to give in to the “More”. Do you desire to grow an inch closer to
God today, and then fast from something that will take you there? If you don’t have
the desire, pray for the desire to have the desire more.
God Bless you always!
Sincerely yours,
