9th Day of Lent: March 13, 2014: “Ask you shall receive” Mathew 7:7

9th Day of Lent:
March 13, 2014:
“Ask you shall receive” Mathew 7:7

Why should we ask the Lord for the “things” we need? Doesn’t God already know what we need? Are we not forcing God to do ‘things’ for us by petitioning God? These are some questions arise as struggle with prayer of petition. And yet Jesus says, “ask and it shall be given to you”. Yes it is true that the all knowing and mighty God already has a clue as to what we truly need. But God hasn’t heard that from your own heart. So prayer then becomes an intimate dialogue and conversation with two intimate friends opening ones’ heart to another. As a result you as a pray-er grows closer to God and makes your desire known to God. God desires that intimacy from us as we are his sons and daughters. Sometimes it takes a while to get answers from God for our petitions but we keep asking while at the same time we keep knowing the plans and desires of God. Very often when we pray we are interested in a mental prayer. However, I believe all our prayers must emerge from our true self, from the depth of our heart. In the depth of our heart God dwells and he or she puts a desire in us to ask for what we need. So our petitions are works of the Spirit within us urging us to ask for what we need. During this season of Lent my desire is that our hearts may grow fonder for our God who knows, listens, hears, answers and cares for us all.

God Bless you always!
Sincerely Yours,
